Travelling as a Minimalist

Since I switched to a minimalist lifestyle in 2018, my travel experiences have changed, allowing me to explore the world with a light backpack and a different approach. In this blog post, I'll share my personal journey of traveling as a minimalist, and how it has opened doors to adventures while paying attention to the small and simple things, creating genuine connections, and the joy of embracing simplicity in every aspect of my trips.

WELCOME TO MY JOURNEY OF TRAVELLING AS A MINIMALIST:

  • Packing Light: The Key to Don’t Need Extra Things

Since becoming a minimalist, packing light has become an essential aspect of my travel routine. By selecting neutral, versatile, and essential items, I can easily fit all I need into a compact bag (I’ve been travelling for more than a year with a 40L backpack from Decathlon, my bag link here) The joy of packing light goes beyond convenience - Traveling light reduces the risk of fatigue and potential health issues related to heavy lifting, also means less time spent on packing and unpacking during your trip. You can also avoid extra baggage fees and save money by traveling with just a carry-on or a small backpack, and also it enables me to move seamlessly through busy cities and transport.

  • Meaningful Connections: Embracing Cultural Immersion

Traveling as a minimalist has opened doors to meaningful connections with locals and fellow travelers. By shedding unnecessary belongings, I feel more approachable and open to engaging in authentic conversations. I don’t need to be buying souvenirs from every market, now observing, talking to people, and embracing cultural immersion has enriched my travel experiences, providing a deeper understanding of the places I visit and fostering genuine connections with people from different types of life.

  • Sustainable Travel: Reducing My Environmental Impact

Since 2018, my minimalist approach to travel aligns with sustainable practices. This is what I try to do during my travels: I Support Local Businesses, When possible I Choose Green Accommodations: Opting for eco-friendly accommodations that prioritize sustainability practices, I avoid Plastic Usage, and finally, I Choose responsible wildlife experiences that prioritize animal welfare and conservation.

By taking these steps, I try to contribute to reducing my environmental impact. Embracing sustainable travel allows me to tread more lightly on the planet and leave a positive mark on the places I visit.

  • The Magic of Minimalist Travel: The True Freedom

Applying a minimalist lifestyle to my travels has offered me a newfound sense of freedom. As mentioned previously, by decluttering my belongings and focusing on what truly matters, I have liberated myself from the weight of material possessions. Travelling as a minimalist has allowed me to enjoy the present moment and fully immerse myself in the beauty of each destination, enriching my travel experiences beyond measure. Also without the worry of carrying unnecessary things and fewer material distractions, I am fully present and attentive to each moment, whether it's enjoying a coffee or matcha in a cute cafe or admiring a breathtaking sunset.

To finish I would like to add that adopting a minimalist lifestyle in 2018 has been a transformative journey, shaping my travel experiences into meaningful and authentic adventures. Traveling as a minimalist has allowed me to savor the freedom of living with less, immerse myself mindfully in each destination, and cultivate deeper connections with people and cultures along the way. As I continue to explore the world with simplicity and purpose, I am grateful for the transformative power of minimalism in enriching my travel experiences.

Hope my journey inspires you to try the benefits of minimalist travel. Happy travels!
